Nils Ambolt (1900-1969), a Swedish astronomer and explorer who participated in 1928-1933 in Sven Hedin’s research expedition to Central Asia. He contributed during the expedition with geodetic measurements such as location determinations, triangulations and gravity measurements. These works formed the basis for the cartographic works that the expedition accomplished. He wrote a book, ”Karavan”, published in 1935, describing the expedition to Central Asia.
