Contemporary artists whose works have an international market belong to the Contemporary art movement. A wider definition of the
category is that art made after World War II is Contemporary. Painting, drawing, photography and sculpture are techniques used
within the frame of Contemporary art and often the works discuss the art conception itself. Examples of well-known artists within
this department are Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella, Robert Rauschenberg, Roberto Matta, Cindy Sherman, Jeff Koons,
Victor Vasarely and Karel Appel. Swedish Contemporary art is highly involved with international Contemporary art. Examples of important artists are Ola Billgren, Karin Mamma Andersson, Bengt Lindström and Linn Fernström. The interest for Contemporary Art is increasing and the genre commands high international prices at Uppsala Auktionskammare’s auctions.
