Provenance: Knut Henrik Littorin (1860-1939), Bjertorp castle, thence by descent to the present owner.

After his studies at the Gothenburg Trade Institute, Knut Henrik Littorin was employed by the Nobel family’s oil business Branobel, which was the largest oil company in Europe and based in Baku. Littorin advanced to become a member of the board of directors. On his return to Sweden, Littorin placed a part of his fortune in the castle Bjertorp.

”The interiors of the castle were influenced by the owner’s long stay in Russia. For example, the smoking-room is said to have been designed as a direct copy of the czar’s room in Kreml... The salons were decorated by Russian pieces of art...” (Bjertorps slott, byggnadsminnen, Skaraborg nr 1 1984 [transl.]).

Провенанс: ваза приобретена Литторином К.Х. (1860-1939), который работал в Баку на нефтяных предприятиях Нобеля и был членом Правления фирмы. Он вернулся в Швецию и купил замок Бьерторпс, который он наполнил русскими вещами. Впоследствии ваза переходила в семье по наследству.
